These are some of the most
frequently asked questions about
Synergy.
Electronic
Realizations...(1975) 1995 edition.
|
Where have
you been?
For the last few years, since Passport Records, the
label that had released all of the Synergy records
went out of business, Synergy recordings weren't
available except as used copies or the few copies
that were still in the sales pipeline. Still, I'd
been busy with many other projects; working on
other people's records both playing and producing,
doing music and audio for films and television, and
most recently working as a music supervisor for
feature films. I've also been developing
technology
used by the hearing impaired.
|
Are any
Synergy records available?
The Synergy albums
are all available again on CD. There's information
on this site about the digitally remastered
reissues.
It took years to get the
rights back, but Synergy Electronic Music, Inc. now
owns the masters and has placed the re-release
rights with Third
Contact, a new media
label that originally was available only on the
internet. Since 1998, Third Contact 's Synergy
releases are manufatured and distributed by
Universal/PolyGram Records Chonicles label.
They are available from conventional record stores
and from online sources.

|
Are there
any new Synergy projects?
Now that the legal questions about the earlier
Synergy releases have cleared up I plan to create
some new recordings. It's not as though I ever
stopped; the scoring and other extended work took
up the same amount of time and effort, but ended up
in different kinds of uses with fewer people aware
that they were hearing Synergy music.
|
Why aren't
you working with Peter Gabriel anymore?
Peter remains one of the favorite people with whom
I've worked. But, after almost a decade of
recording and touring, Peter's work took a
different creative direction, one where my
electronic music and technology skills weren't
really needed. You can hear my playing, programming
and production work on Peter's first four solo
albums and his first live album.
